• 0-40 ms 0-40 ms is ideal; the game reacts instantly.
• 40-80 ms is comfortable, with almost no noticeable delay.
• 80-100 ms, there is a slight delay in firefights.
• 100+ ms seriously hinders the game, especially in competitive matches.

How to Test Ping in CS2

1. In-game method

The easiest method is to play and check your ping in the table. It's easy to figure out, just follow these three steps:

• Press the TAB key to launch the scoreboard.
• Study the results table.
• Find your ping next to your score.

2. Outside the game

Some websites allow you to check your CS2 ping outside the game, such as:

• Turboboost — offers a “CS2 Ping Test” tool that measures the delay between your internet and CS2 servers in real time without launching the game.

You can also use the standard Speedtest, which will show your internet ping, but not the CS2 servers. However, if you have internet issues, this is a sign that something needs to be changed.

To begin with, try the most basic methods:

• connect to the internet via cable instead of Wi-Fi — this will make the signal more stable;
• restart your router and computer to reset temporary network errors.
• close background programs that consume internet bandwidth (streaming, downloaders, updates).

How to change DNS on a router:

• Go to the router's web interface (usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1).
• In the Internet or WAN section, specify the new DNS.
• Save the settings and restart the router.
• After that, check the ping in CS2: if the connection has become more stable, then DNS has helped.

How to Change the Connection Server in CS2

In CS2, it is not possible to manually select a specific server, as was possible in older versions of Counter-Strike. However, you can influence which regions are used for matchmaking.

• The easiest way is to limit the search by latency. To do this, open the console and enter the command: mm_dedicated_search_maxping 50

The number represents the maximum ping in milliseconds. For example, if you set it to 50, the game will only search for matches on servers with a latency of up to 50 ms.

You can also turn off unnecessary regions in the settings and leave only the closest ones. Then CS2 will find matches there more often.
